Chapter 10 - Building a Foley Stage for a Home Studio

The following is a sample paragraph from The Sound Effects Bible.

Designing and Building a Place to Record

Jack Foley

Foley is the art of performing sound effects. This art bears the name of the sound effects pioneer, Jack Foley, who worked at Universal Pictures during the 1930s. Traditionally, Foley artists perform while watching images on a screen. Today the term Foley describes general sound effects performed by humans, but not necessarily to picture. This includes sounds that are pulled from a sound effects library, commonly known as canned sounds.
