Sorry it took so long to post a new sound. We’ve been battling web development issues for the past couples months and it appears that the storm is over! (And there was much rejoicing…)
Here is an artillery shell explosion that I designed a while back. I mention this sound effect in the book as this was a sound that ended up in Call Of Duty 2. It’s a piece of paper being slowly torn and a firework mortar exploding. Of course, both sounds were pitched, EQ’d and processed a bit. This sound effect originally appeared on Sound Ideas’ General Sound Effects Library Extension III.
For kicks and grins, I recorded a section of the COD video game that had the sound playing in the background. You can listen to it here: COD SFX Artillery Shell. The sound effect is heard at :08 seconds in the background. It appears throughout the game during normal play.
